2016 Pageant Dates and Venues - Miss International

Miss International 2016 is slated to be held on October 27, 2016 in Tokyo, Japan. This edition will be the 56th edition of the worldwide acknowledged pageant. The 55th edition of Miss International pageant was held on November 5, 2015 at the Grand Prince Hotel Takanawa in Tokyo, Japan wherein Valerie Hernandez of Puerto Rico crowned her successor Edymar Martínez of Venezuela at the end of the event. The 55^th edition also introduced a new Miss International crown created and designed by Mikimoto.

This year, the pre-pageant event will prolong for about two weeks, starting in the mid October 2016. The contestants will also be judged on the segments of Best National Costume, Best Dresser and Miss Perfect Body.

Miss International pageant is an annual international beauty pageant which aims at promoting “Love Peace and Excitement to the World”. It was initiated in United States, in Long Beach, California in 1960. In the year 1968-1970 the pageant was held in Japan memorializing the Osaka World Exposition. For 1971 and 1972, it was held in Long Beach again, but after 1972, the pageant has been held in Japan.

The contestants of the pageant are expected to dole out as "Ambassadors of Peace and Beauty", serving tenderness, generosity, friendship, beauty, intelligence and a great international sensibility. The pageant has also established the "Miss International Fund" which donates money to underprivileged children around the world, through UNICEF and other charity institutions.

While few countries are yet to search their representative for Miss International 2016, some big powerhouse nations have already assigned their delegates for the same. 2016 Pageant Dates and Venues - Miss Earth

Miss Earth 2016 is coming back home to the Philippines.  Mall of Asia Arena will play host to this prestigious pageant.  Star World TV will broadcast it all over the world and live streaming will be seen via Rappler.

2016 Pageant Dates and Venues - Miss World

The 66th edition of Miss World is scheduled to be held in the capital of United States, Washington DC on December 20, 2016. It is reported that this news was announced by Miss World Organization itself on 16 June 2016.

While the venue is still undecided for the finale, it is believed that the pre-pageant activities will commence on November 29, 2016 with departures scheduled on December 21, 2016. This will be the second time in history that Miss World will be held in the United States of America.

The outgoing queen Mireia Lalaguna of Spain will crown her successor at the end of the coronation night. This year more than 100 countries will be vying to win the coveted title of Miss World 2016 and hoping to be the ambassador of “Beauty with a Purpose”. The contestants will be judged on the basis of various fastrack events, like Top Model, Talent, Multimedia, Sports, Beauty with a Purpose and Resort Wear.

While more than 50 countries have already crowned their delegates for Miss World 2016, other nations have already scheduled their national pageants in the coming months. The Miss World pageant is the oldest surviving major international beauty pageant. It was created in the United Kingdom by Eric Morley in 1951. Since his death in 2000, Eric Morley’s wife, Julia Morley, has co-chaired the pageant.

Venezuela is the most successful country at Miss World pageant with six crowns, followed by India and United Kingdom with five crowns each.

2016 Pageant Dates and Venues - Miss Universe

Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach will have to pass down the crown soon enough as Miss Universe 2016 is fast approaching! As much as the world loves Wurtzbach, who hails from the Philippines, the yearly battle for the crown is highly anticipated!

The Venue

Wurtzbach recently met with the newly elect Philippine president, Rodrigo Duterte. Her mission is to convince the President to agree in holding Miss Universe 2016 in the country.

Duterte has already mentioned that “Dili ko [mugasto]”– [translation: I won’t spend for it.] — to host the pageant. However, Wurtzbach made it clear that it will be the private sector that will shoulder the expenses. That being said, the Philippines will not spend even a single centavo for it.

President Duterte suggested holding the event outside the Metro Manila to prevent possible massive traffic congestion.

The pageant might take place in one of the Philippines’ provinces: Palawan, Davao, Cebu, Vigan, Boracay, and Cagayan de Oro. Nevertheless, Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella assured everyone that the government will extend its services during the event.

Host.

Despite Steve Harvey’s tragic fate in last year’s event, he has been invited to redeem himself and host Miss Universe 2016! Harvey surely regrets mistakenly announcing Miss Columbia as the winner when the crown truly belongs to Miss Philippines.

The event angered both fans of Columbia and the Philippines; seeing the crown being taken from Adriana Gutierrez and taking away Wurtzbach’s victory walk.Undersecretary of the Philippines Department of Tourism said that Harvey wants to apologize to the Filipino people who were hurt because of what happened. Harvey is best known for being the Family Feud‘s host and having his own program The Steve Harvey Morning Show.

Miss Earth

Miss Earth 2015, the 15th Miss Earth pageant, was held on 5 December 2015 at Marx Halle in Vienna, Austria. It was the first time the pageant was held in Europe and outside of Asia. It was also the first back to back victories in Miss Earth history: Angelia Ong of the Philippines crowned by Jamie Herrell of the Philippines.

At the end of the night, Australia got its highest placement to date through Dayanna Grageda's finish as Miss Earth-Air 2015 where she was crowned by Andrea Neu, Miss Earth-Air 2014 from USA; Brittany Payne of USA was crowned Miss Earth-Water 2015, and Thiessa Sickert of Brazil was crowned as Miss Earth-Fire 2015 and she was crowned by Anastasia Trusova, Miss Earth-Fire 2014 from Russia.

The theme of this year's pageant is the promotion of environmental awareness by focusing on the Climate Change campaign thru the 5R’s : Re-think, Reduce, Re-use, Recycle and Respect.

Miss International

Miss International 2015, the 55th Miss International pageant, held on November 5, 2015 at the Grand Prince Hotel Takanawa in Tokyo, Japan. Valerie Hernandez of Puerto Rico crowned her successor Edymar Martínez of Venezuela at the end of the event with a new crown created and designed by Mikimoto.

After her crowning, on November 6, 2015 she visited Osaka Prefecture for sponsor visit at the Panasonic Beauty Company with the finalists and some contestants.On November 7, 2015 as Miss International 2015, Edymar with her runners-up visited Miss Paris Beauty School in Tokyo as Miss International Pageant Sponsor.After four days of being crowned as Miss International 2015, on November 9, 2015 Edymar visited Mie Prefecture to perform some activities with the finalists, including visited Mikimoto company, Prefecture Office in Mie Prefecture, Japan. On November 11, 2015, Edymar attended UDC13 Event.

Edymar traveled to across Japan for sponsor visit. On November 17, 2015 Martinez traveled to Venezuela for her homecoming, her arrival to Venezuela was transmitted by Venezuelan television and she had a press conference in Caracas. On November 18, 2015 Martinez was at Portada's, a Venezuelan TV program. On November 20, 2015 she was interviewed by Noticiero Venevision. She had a homage in Super Sabado Sensacional during five hour special on Venevisión (Venezuela's main TV network) and she received the traditional Venezuelan kokeshi (Japanese doll), a tradition from 1985 when Venezuela won the first title of Miss International to the present day.

On February 19, 2015, Edymar attended the official final Puteri Indonesia 2016 in Jakarta.Formerly, the crowned Miss Universe attends the event, and this the first time that Puteri Indonesia Pageant invited Miss International to their coronation event.

Edymar has traveled to across Japan for sponsor visit, and Indonesia. She is expected to travel to some countries such as Myanmar, Spain, Thailand and including some South America countries. In April, 2016 she won the tittle Timeless Beauty 2015 and appeared in the magazine Hola! Venezuela.

In June 24, 2016, Edymar traveled to Bolivia as guest of luxury to attend the coronation of the new Miss Bolivia and her court of winners with another grand slam winner Stephania Stegman, Miss Supranational 2015.

During her reign she has traveled to Indonesia, Bolivia, Panama and numerous trips around in Japan.

Miss World

Miss World 2015, the 65th edition of the Miss World pageant, was held on 19 December 2015 at the Crown of Beauty Theatre in Sanya, China PR. 114 contestants from all over the world competed. Rolene Strauss of South Africa crowned Mireia Lalaguna of Spain as her successor at the end of the event. This is the first time that Spain won the title of Miss World.

The Spanish model and the first ever Miss World from Spain, Mireia Lalaguna Royo was born on November 28, 1992. Belonging to the city of Barcelona, she first rose to prominence through her work as a model while her big-break came during 2014 when she was crowned Miss Atlántico Internacional 2014. Her movement towards further success continued and she became a internationally renowned personality after winning the Miss World Spain 2015 competition which along with the title, also earned Mireia the right to represent her country in the Miss World 2015 pageant. The competition took place in Sanya, China where Mireia Lalguna Royo performed extremely well at all stage and was finally crowned Miss World 2015 on December 19, 2015.

Miss Universe

Miss Universe 2015, the 64th Miss Universe pageant, was held on 20 December 2015 at the The AXIS in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. Paulina Vega of Colombia crowned her successor Pia Wurtzbach of the Philippines at the end of the event. 80 contestants competed for the 2015 title.

This was the first edition of the Miss Universe pageant to be held under the ownership of WME/IMG, which purchased the Miss Universe Organization from Donald Trump on September 14, 2015, three days after NBCUniversal sold him its 50% interest in the organization in exchange for Trump's dropping a breach of contract lawsuit he filed against the media company in August for terminating NBC's contract to televise the Miss Universe and Miss USA pageants. Consequently, it is also the first Miss Universe event to be aired by Fox and Azteca, which replaced NBC and UniMás (the respective parents of both networks, NBCUniversal and Univision Communications, terminated their rights to the pageant as a result of Trump's incendiary statements against Mexican immigrants during his speech announcing his candidacy for the Republican Party nomination for President of the United States on June 16) as the pageant's respective English and Spanish broadcasters.

The telecast was most notable for an error in which host Steve Harvey mistakenly announced Ariadna Gutiérrez, who represented Colombia in that year's pageant, as Miss Universe 2015, even though the judges had decided that Pia Wurtzbach from the Philippines had won.Gutiérrez was initially crowned. About three minutes later, following Harvey's admission of his error, the crown was removed by outgoing titleholder Paulina Vega from Gutiérrez and given to Wurtzbach. The telecast abruptly ended without Wurtzbach's performing the traditional walk with the crown. The closing credits were not shown and the broadcast cut to the closing logos automatically after the apology.
